Custom Range Hood FAQs
1. Can I customize the size and design of my range hood?
Yes. Our range hoods can be customized in size, shape, material, finish, color, decorative details, and ventilation configuration. You can start with one of our existing designs or send us an inspiration photo, sketch, rendering, or custom drawing.
2. What materials are available for custom range hoods?
We offer custom range hoods in brass, copper, stainless steel, and zinc, with a variety of finishes and textures available for each material.
3. How do I choose the right range hood size for my kitchen?
The ideal size depends on your range or cooktop width, ceiling height, installation height, and kitchen layout.
Hood Width: In most cases, we recommend selecting a hood that is at least as wide as the cooking surface, with additional width when space allows for better capture and visual proportion.
Hood Height: Measuring from the cooktop to the ceiling, the bottom of the hood is typically installed about 30–36 inches above the cooktop. The remaining space up to the ceiling can then help determine the overall hood height for the best proportion and fit.
Hood Depth: For most indoor kitchens, a depth of 21–24 inches works well, while deeper ranges or outdoor cooking areas may benefit from a deeper hood. Ideally, the hood should cover the back burners and at least half of the front burners for better ventilation.
4. Why doesn’t the hood color change when I select a different finish option?
The range hood images on our website are real photos of range hoods we’ve handcrafted, shown on a white background to reflect the actual craftsmanship, design and details.
As every hood is custom-made, the image will not automatically change when you select a different finish. You can still place your order directly. After receiving your order, we’ll provide a CAD drawing and rendering for your approval before starting fabricating your range hood. At drawing review stage, the finish and design details can still be adjusted to match your preferences.
5. What ventilation options are available?
We offer different ventilation configurations, including internal motor, remote motor, and ductless options, depending on your kitchen setup and ventilation needs.
Internal: The internal insert is an all-in-one unit that includes both the motor and liner. The motor is installed directly inside the hood and vents air to the outside through duct-work. This can be ducted both on the back wall or the top.
Remote: The blower is located outside the range hood, usually in a remote location like an attic, basement, or exterior of the home. A remote blower is quieter than an internal motor. While it requires more budget and complex installation.
Ductless: Ductless, also called a recirculating range hood, recirculates air through a filter to remove odors without ducting. Filtering and recycling air inside your kitchen. Recirculating hoods require regular filter changes to maximize performance.
6. Can I use my own hood insert or blower?
Yes. If you already have a preferred insert or blower, please send us the model number and specifications after you place the order. We'll design our range hood cover to accommodate your own insert.
7. Will I receive a drawing before my range hood is made?
Yes. Once we receive your order, we'll create a CAD drawing based on your order specs and provide you to approve before production. You can confirm the dimensions, proportions, finish, and custom details before fabrication begins. Preview renderings may also be available when needed to help visualize the final design.

Lead time depends on the design, customization, production schedule, and shipping method. Standard free service lead time is approx. 40-65 workdays after you approve the drawing; Expedited service with an additional charge is about 20 to 35 workdays after the drawing is approved.
